Pu Luong Summit Trek (1 Day)

The Pu Luong Summit Trek is the most challenging and adventurous trekking tour we run in Pu Luong, taking you on foot to the highest point of the Pu Luong Nature Reserve. This demanding one-day trek is for active travellers who want to experience the raw forest landscapes of Pu Luong beyond village paths and valley routes.

The route leads deep into dense tropical forest, following narrow trails, steep ascents and natural terrain rarely visited by most travellers. As you gain height the environment becomes wilder and quieter. Throughout the trek an experienced local guide manages safety, pacing and regular rest stops in suitable shaded areas.

Reaching the summit is the highlight of the day. After a well-earned break at the top you have time to rest, rehydrate and take in the surrounding mountain views before starting the descent.

Itinerary

Duration — one day, recommended for safety

This trek is completed in one day so that it stays controlled, well supported and safe, and so you return from the mountain before nightfall.

Trekking day — ascent, rest and descent

The day begins early in the morning, heading straight into the forest along steep and challenging trails. The ascent is paced carefully, with regular rest breaks to recover, hydrate and take in the forest surroundings.

Around midday you stop for a packed lunch in a safe, shaded area, with time to refuel and rest before the final push towards the summit. After reaching the top and spending time resting and taking photos, the trek continues with a controlled descent along the same route, returning in the late afternoon or early evening.

Getting there and paying

A trek can start in Hanoi when Hanoi–Pu Luong transport is part of the confirmed itinerary, or from your hotel, homestay or bungalow in Pu Luong if you are already there.

Vehicle type depends on the number of guests, the itinerary and what the trip actually needs, so it is confirmed for each booking rather than fixed on this page.

Normally around 30% is paid as a deposit after we confirm your booking, with the balance around 7 days before departure. Arrangements can be adjusted case by case, and your own booking confirmation always takes priority.

Light rain does not automatically cancel a trek. Route and pace may change with conditions, and unsafe conditions can mean rerouting, delay, postponement or cancellation. That safety decision is made by the operator and your guide.

Confirmed for you in writing before you pay

We would rather confirm these in writing for your dates and group than publish a number that turns out not to match your trek:

  • Price and what the price is based on
  • Summit official and local name, and a verified elevation figure
  • Trailhead, route and finish point
  • Walking distance, walking hours and ascent
  • Transport to and from the trailhead
  • Guide ratio, safety equipment and any permit or local-guide requirement
  • Season and current operational status of the route
  • Full inclusions and exclusions
  • Cancellation and unsafe-weather handling
  • Photographs of the trail and summit
